Journal Pages

I have been art journaling like there is not tomorrow. I work in my journal everyday at lunch time and any other time I can squeeze it in. I tend to work in a few journals at a time. But, of late I have been working mostly in one. I made this one to take along to artfest since my other one was so fat I would have had to pay an extra fee I am sure of it just to get it on the plane! So here are some pages for you to look at. They are not in any order, just random glimpses into my journal. Some are done some are not, I find that I can go back and add stuff when ever I want. I have also let go of keeping things in order. My journals are just a moment in time or a memory of another time, I like it this way.

Happy Feet!

I got new Birks! Are they not the best? I think a girl should wear fun things on her feet!

An Elephant for someone I love

Several months ago I made an elephant out of a pair of my old sweatpants for someone who I love who was having a hard time. It was so great to do this for her and use something that had been mine. I got the idea one night late, the house was quiet and the elephant came into being effortlessly. I have begun in the last few years to use old clothes to make dolls and stuffed beings for family and it sure is a blast. No pattern at all, just go with the feeling of what you wish to create. You will be guided!

Where has the time gone?

Wow! So much has happened, let me see! I did go to ARTFEST! It was a total blast, Here is a photo of me and my BFF's! Vanessa and Judy from Arizona. Oh my we had such a great time. We laughed so hard our cheeks cramped up.
The classes were awesome as usual! I took PMC Frameworks from Catherine Witherall(the PMC Goddess for sure) . I learned so many new things and made an awesome pendant with a photo in the center of it. Way cool!
Nina Bagly was Friday and I learned so many techniques I know it will improve my jewelry designs.
I am so excited to drill holes in rocks and glass! Woohoo!
Michael Deming was my last day and he is amazing! We made mini Nicho's out of matchboxes. I am totally into making these!
I will post photos soon! Promise.
My GRANGIRL called me today and told me she is a follower of my blog so I would like to welcome Bella Boo! I love that girl all the way to the moon and back and back and back....

Journal for Kimberly's Birthday

It was my daughter's birthday February 13th. I won't tell you how old she is that is up to her. I recently got a piece of tooled leather from my Mom. When I was a kid my Dad and I would sit for hours and make amazing designs on leather. He was so great! When Kim saw the piece my Dad did, before it was a journal, that is, she got so excited and wanted to learn how to tool leather. SO, when it was her birthday I made this journal for her to keep all of her creative ideas in. The front piece on the journal is one that my father tooled back in the late 60's.I glued it on an old leather book cover and then created this jouranl for her. She now has a set of tools and other things to start her process in learning. She is now on her way to buy a desk to set up as a space to make her leather goods on. She is talking about making dog collars and leashes and such. Kim has a bulldog puppy, Monty, and he will be her inspiration I am sure.

Jewelry Zine

I was lucky enough to be asked by my ART BUDDIE Catherine Witherall to contribute to a Jewelry Zine she and Deryn Mentock were putting together. I remember when I got the email from her asking me, I emailed back and said "Who me? Are you sure?" She said "YES you silly!" After much trepidation and then much encouragement from Catherine I did a page. Friday I got the zine in the mail and WOW it is totally amazing. To read more about it you can go to her blog www.happydayart.typepad.com She has lots of cool stuff there! My page is a wearable doll pin called, "Wee Muse Messengers", you can make for yourself. The Zine's are a limited edition and let me tell you again, it is amazing and beautiful. I am honored to be in such great company of artists in the Zine. Thank you Catherine, You are so supportive and believe so strongly in the collaboration of artists that you put so much into this project and it shows! You sure are great at spreading JOY!

Wow Time Flies!
Here is a pendant I have made for a round robin from the Charmsters Yahoo group(one group of MANY, I must add!) I belong to. The idea was that we had to create a center piece with any theme we wanted and put it on a chain (which I also made),and we had to include a mailing box and a book. I went a little nuts and made a padded fiber holder to go with it as well. In any case, the theme of my pendant is "Always Make Time for Art!" It is an old watch that the parts are loose in and has a broken watch face in it, as well as some other collage emements. It is hanging from a key and those of you who know me, know that if I am not making art I am not in balance, therefore, the key to my balance is ART and more ART and then even MORE! Hanging from the watch is a colored pencil, a pen point, and an artist with a heart line. Off it went to NY and then on to 8 other amazing women who will add to it. I will post a photo when it comes back to me.

Bea's Story and Instructions

I am Beatrice Brave,
also known as Bea Brave.
My message is in my name;
I encourage those who hold me
to be brave and take the risk to do the
things they may be denying themselves.
You know those things that you said
“Someday I want to…”, or
“When I have time I will try…”.
I am here to remind you of the promises
you have made to yourself.
Listen to that wee voice inside
that has been urging you on
to try the things you never thought you would.
Sometimes the voice quiets so low
we are able to ignore it.
Now is the time to listen, listen carefully!

As you hold me, think of something you have left undone,
for you no one else;
something that YOU have wanted to do or
something that maybe you felt held back from doing.
As you hold me, envision yourself doing this
and then add something to me
or my box to symbolize that desire.
If you feel so inclined, write about your experience
or do some art about it in my travel journal.
You can create an intention
or just make marks on the page as a symbol of your desire.
If you are someone who has been brave
and done things you never thought you would,
you can add encouraging things to support others
who may still have some unfulfilled dreams.
Anything goes as long as it works for you.
Remember, you are a BRAVE woman
who can do anything that you desire.

YOU Dear One are the gift.
In Bravery and Art, Bea

If any of you who are reading this would like to add your story
please feel free to do so in your comments.
Thank you! In ART, Lore

BE BRAVE

Welcome to my Blog!
My intention for this blog is to share art and inspiration. It is so important for my well-being to create art everyday; from a small doodle to a sculpture. I believe that everything is art!
This doll is a doll I have created for a healing art doll round robin. The idea is to pick something you wish to work on healing-wise and create a doll that others will add to. I will also create a book to go along with her on her journey for her healing story and information she gains. She has a suitcase in progress to travel in.
In any case, her theme is about bravery and beginning this blog is a step toward being brave for me. So, I decided to post her for my first blog entry. I will keep you posted on her progress and share her as she leaves and when she returns to me.
Wishing you an art-filled New Year and the courage to face your bravery and
turn your back on your fears.
